About

Since the day he graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Torino, Simone Muscolino never stopped being an enthusiast for movies and interaction design. His thesis was on Jacques Tati's "Playtime", featuring Monsieur Hulot getting lost in the maze of modern architecture. And Muscolino's movies have a lot in common with Tati's ironic attitude. After graduating, Simone has been producing videos for design and architecture firms for a decade. In 1997 and 1998 he was involved in the making "moto perpetuo" and "Barbihaus", videos produced for the Turin based architecture firm Cliostraat. An urban trekking trip through the outskirts of Turin and a condensed journey across Italy are a good jumping off point to his unique video making activity. In 2001 he set off for Spain. There he collaborated with Eduardo Arroyo's No.Mad studio for whom he made "YELLOW FEVER", a samba-driven feast taking place in a football arena, and "Paisajes en el bolsillo", for Arroyo's Plaza de Desierto. Muscolino’s look is focused on how men use architecture, on the social relationships that the built environment fosters or simply contains. Muscolino is currently teaching time-based media and interaction design at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar. More recently he was involved in “The moving postcards project”, a project mixing time-based media and interaction design.
