About

Madrid based, Andrés Jaque Architects and the Office for Political Innovation, is an architecture office that tries to explore the potential for architecture to be an innovative player in the future development of both society and its environment. The office’s slogan is "Architecture is technologically rendered society", and with this mindset they are currently focusing on studying "connected-domesticities" and "politically-activated urbanism." Under the leadership of Andrés Jaque, director of Andrés Jaque Architects and the Office for Political Innovation, and Advanced Design Professor at Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation GSAPP Columbia University, the office has started to look beyond architecture as the production of a thing, but as the production of philosophy and way of life. Through the use of witty, thought provoking and enticing videos and animations, the office is able to express many of their complicated ideas in a clear and provocative way. Their sometimes subversive, but always provocative, ideas are showcased in a non-traditional way, allowing the viewer to look beyond the horizon of the current architectural landscape into the possible futures that these videos suggest.
