Yǔzhòu

Imagen Subliminal

Flows of visual perceptions.

Yǔzhòu is an immersive light installation designed by Ben Busche and Brute Deluxe for the Luneng Sanya Bay Light and Art Festival in Hainan (China). Visitors can experience a unique cosmos where light and color change, and shift perception at every step. The short film and the photos by Imagen Subliminal very well depict the atmosphere. The camera ambles through the installation showing details at first, then offering an overview.

The installation consists of a maze based on triangular geometry. 2,5 meter high acrylic glass panels are the basic components. A dichroic film glued on one side of the panels makes them semi-transparent and reflects or shifts the light rays. While the spectator moves in and around the installation, the entire colour spectrum of a rainbow appears. On the other side of the panel, grooves create a pattern of circles and lines. Powerful LED rails located in the lower and upper framework lit up the groves with blending tones.
