ICA Mediatheque

Diller Scofidio + Renfro

The moving blue framed by a window of the Boston ICA Building by Diller Scofidio + Renfro.

The mediateque of the ICA Building filmed in this clip is a room with a view on the lake. Rather than a video, this very short live footage could be considered as a moving postcard or the basis for a looping gif. Its brevity is anyway enough to show to the observer a strategy often employed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in their projects: to frame elements or situations.

The view out there is not a usual one, is not a picturesque lake-panorama, instead we see only the texture of the infinite moving blue framed by the wide window. Water seems so close and it is multiplied by the coordinated pc-screens which highlight even more the lake's ripple. Once again, Diller Scofidio +Renfro's design offers to visitors a chance to get emotions from the surrounding environment.
