About

Christian Grou and Tapio Snellman founded Neutral in Tokyo in 1999. Until its very first steps, the group started to explore the potential of computer graphics in order to enhance the experience and the communication of architectural projects. In the course of the years the group grew and also changed its organization a bit. Tapio Snellman left in 2001, but he kept collaborating with Neutral as an independent filmmaker. Adam Randall joined the group in 2010. Today the firm produces a wide range of works dealing with digital media for architecture, it keeps producing animations by also exploring the most recent and sofisticate techniques of 3D. Neutral's animation films have been screened at numerous galleries and have been championed by companies such as the critically acclaimed "onedotzero". Their works have been exhibited internationally and featured in exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Design Museum in London, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Venice Architecture Biennale and the Tate Modern. In 2007 Neutral was invited by the Architecture Foundation, London, to show a retrospective on their architecture films and new works.
