About

+RAMTV was an international network for design research founded by a team of five young architects graduated from the Architectural Association Design Research Laboratory (AADRL) in London. The name of the studio - based on-line at www.ramtv.org - is an acronym that combines the initials of each member: Robert Sedlak (Germany) Aljosa Dekleva (Slovenia), Manuela Gatto (Italy), Tina Gregoric (Slovenia), and Vasili Stroumpakos (Grecee). Their research is mainly focused on the mass-customization of housing and explores the social frames and systems in evolution in the design of new, flexible and open forms of residential architecture and shared spaces. In their first project "negotiate my boundary!" - both a publication (London, AA Publications, 2002) and a video -, they investigate the potentials of highly responsive forms of urban residential architecture and introduce a model for customizing and purchasing a dwelling via the Internet. By means of a multi-layered representation, +RAMTV's "negotiate my boundary" video shows the different future scenarios that can be generated by the interactive and responsive environments of the project. The group uses the video as a tool to narrate architecture - its overall geometry as well as the social interactions of its actors - through a series of screenplays that anticipate a possible implementation of the dwelling customization process.
