MY PLAYGROUND (trailer)

Kaspar Astrup Schroeder

Step, touch, climb. This film enriches the vocabulary for architects to deal with buildings and cities.

This is a film "about movement in urban space" by Kaspar Astrup Schröder showcased at its premiere on 6th December 2009 at Shenzhen and Hong Kong Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture. The movie explores the spaces of the modern metropolis in Copenhagen by means of the spectacular and unusual perspectives of the professional parkour Team JiYo.

A new way of observing the city and buildings emerge. The perception of urban space is influenced by the way the freerunners subvert the conventional viewpoint with their tricking. The "traceurs" treat the whole city as their own personal playground while they play with both unknown corners and well-known urban architectures.

As a final stage of this spectacular journey, the striking performances of the Danish parkour team re-discover in unexpected ways the striking spaces of The Mountain dwelling building. Under these thrilling tricks and movements the already famous building by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) becomes an astounding apparition and an even more popular place within the city.
