About

NAARO is a photography studio focused on the narration of international contemporary architecture, while outlining the unique values of each documented project both in architectural and social terms. The London based firm is formed by award-winning photographer Freya Najade (born in Germany) and architect Marcela Spadaro (born in Argentina), who worked for over ten years with Zaha Hadid Architects. The combination of their multifaceted and different cultural and professional backgrounds is one of the main elements and source of inspiration for their visual narrative style. In the short film "Concert Hall Blaibach", NAARO documents the concert hall designed and built by Peter Haimerl in the heart of Blaibach (Germany) in its everyday interactions with the surrounding landscape, as well as with the local community and the occasional visitors coming from all over Europe. Beyond its undeniable relevance as a new European cultural icon and a social benchmark for the local community, the short film aims at showing to a wider audience the architectural qualities of the concrete building. Publications featuring NAARO's photographs include: Domus, Wallpaper, Elle Decoration, Architectural Digest, Design Milk, Surface, The Times Literature, Architects Journal, Dezeen, Archdaily, Arquitectura Viva, as well as a book released by Thames&Hudson, among others.
