About

Gali Blay gained her Master in Social Design from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2016. With a background in photography she aims to highlight the need for a working methodology on the intersection between the visual discourse analysis and critical design. As a photographer she looks at images as a body of information, and as a designer she creates fictional scenarios in order to address highly complex political structures and investigate to what extent her discipline is able to facilitate a much-needed discourse. Never has the perception of reality in our Western society been more influenced by images than today. And never has there been a higher risk for viewers to be manipulated. Visual discourse analysis allows to find specific elements and patterns which then, in combination with the application of critical design, help to interact with the phenomenon and facilitate productive discussions. Fictional, reality based animation scenarios invite viewers to become active in tangible stories by stimulating their imagination and tactile senses.
