About

Eva Sommeregger is an architect and film maker interested in exploring the territories at the intersection of architecture, design and the moving image. A perfect specimen of her researches can be seen in "*.space". In this video she uses the same camera angle used by Google car and explores the paradoxes of our current experience of space. Born in Vienna in 1981, Eva Sommeregger studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology (TU) and at the Bartlett in London. She took part in a TU design/built project in Johannesburg that received the 2006 Austrian Building Award. Her work was displayed in many important exhibitions, such as at the Venice Architecture Biennale. She leads eyeTRY architects with Florian Schafschetzy where she works on projects of experimental architecture. Her digital films have been screened in festivals across Europe and Japan, such as "Anifest" film festival in Prague, "audiovisiva" experimental media festival in Milan, "full pull" experimental music, art & video in Malmö, "Zebra Film Festival" in Berlin, "dislocate 08" exhibition and symposium in Yokohama, Japan and "BEYOND MEDIA. VISIONS" in Florence, Italy. From April to September 2011 she was Architect resident at the MAK Center for Art and Architecture in Los Angeles where she worked on the project Scale Scape Scope. She is a member of hoRizon, an international desing research network. Eva Sommeregger is also a teacher: lately she has been teaching at the Vienna University of Fine Arts where she worked with her students on "updating" some iconic images of architectural history.
